Injuries are the absolute worst when you are training. It’s always an injury or I get really sick. This times is no different, but I don’t know how I injured myself.
THE INJURY OF GETTING OLDER
Over the past few years, I’ve noticed that when I sustain an injury, it takes longer and longer to recover. I also notice that injuries come more easily and sometimes there is no explanation for it.
Last year, I sustained two injuries. The second was by far the worst injury to date. I spent three months trying to recover, but in total it took about six months to fully heal. When I was younger, that sort of injury would fully heal in a few days or even a week. I guess my bones are more brittle and my joints are more creaky these days.
With my current injury, one day, I woke up and suddenly had pain in my shoulder, neck, and chest. It feels like the muscle and all the connective tissue. It’s painful to move my arm. Perhaps, it’s sympathy pain because lover’s same shoulder was in pain the other day after we had sex. My pain started the following day. I guess that takes being chemically bonded to a whole other level.
TREATING AN INJURY WITH THE RICE METHOD
Normally, when I am injured, I use the RICE method to treat it. The RICE method is rest, ice, compression, and elevate. This time, I rested. I didn’t workout this week. I went for one walk and lover and I had some really amazing sex, but that’s about it.
When we’re injured, it’s important to rest and not continue to strain our bodies because it can make things worse. Compression and elevation are a bit difficult to do considering the placement of my injury so I had to skip those steps. Instead of ice, I used heat to try to loosen up the muscles as they felt like they were pulling a bit too much.
Ibuprofen and rest didn’t seem to help. My pain has not reduced at all and it’s rather uncomfortable to sleep.
SO I USED CBD TO TREAT MY INJURY
I am by no means 420 friendly. However, I do use CBD in topical form. So I used CBD on my arm, shoulder, neck and chest. It helped for a bit, but it’s still just a temporary fix. So I’m not sure what’s going on with my body, but I certainly can’t lift weights or even put body weight on my arm. I think working out has been put on pause until I get this sorted.
